Phan An Hai was born in Hanoi, Vietnam in 1967 and graduated from
the Hanoi Fine Arts Institute in 1988 and from the Hanoi
Fine Arts and Music College in 1995. He is a member of the
Hanoi Fine Arts Association and of the Vietnam Young Club
Painter.
His paintings mostly tend to follow an expressionist and abstract
style and take on a youthful, elated and complex style - a
free character. They reveal the innermost feelings full of
sympathy and humanism of a man of our times with
aspirations, hopes and confidence. The style of expression,
the tempo, lines and colour in Pham An Hai’s paintings have
created a desirable disparity between them and the narration
of the author's emotions so rich in philosophical meanings.
Each painting is a rhythm, and at the same time, it appears
to share feelings with you or induce you to a limpid and
serene space. Figures and colour patches, the composition,
lines and strokes seem to have no sentiment but actually
they urge the viewer to mingle with the breath and that
space jointly with him.
His works have won a number of prestigious art awards in
Vietnam, and he has exhibited in solo shows as well as in
group exhibitions in his home country as well as in
Australia, Hong Kong, Singpore, Luxembourg and Belgium.
